Why do they do it? Could be because of jealousy, envy, greed,...
Should you retaliate and also do it? Nope, definitely not. To curse someone is not taken lightly. It can take quite some time before a curse is discovered as being the cause of an energetic negative influence (manipulation) on the world around us and our psyche.
A considerable amount of damage is often already done by the time it is discovered and cannot, or hardly, be reversed. Marriages are over. Businesses are out of business.
That this has been done to you intentionally and on purpose has not come to only your attention.
This is why you often hear that the person who puts the curse on you gets it back.

Curses are aimed at a particular aspect with a particular intention. They can affect specific areas of their subject. Like for example: only affect the males of a family, or travel down the family line from father to son to grandson, affect an object and each owner that possess it,...
Curses are done by experienced people who know what they are doing. Their firm grip and deep infiltration in the dynamics in people's lives can prove hard to remove.
There is a wide variety of curses, designed to achieve different goals.
There is also a wide variety of techniques. Developed to achieve the same goal.
Satanism, Black Magic, Witchcraft, Wicca, Kabbalah,... They all have their different style, influence and effects.
